Chef and The Builder’s Family Diner in Clinton, NJ: Review

I’m a big fan of downtown Clinton, so when one of my favorite diners closed there (RIP the Fine Diner), I was happy to see that another diner was taking it’s place. Chef and the Builder’s Family Diner is a new diner offering breakfast and lunch from Wednesday to Sunday.

Located around the corner from the famous Red Mill Museum, Chef and the Builder’s Family diner opened on October 13th, 2017. The new diner was started by Chef June and her husband Greg (aka the Builder).

When you walk in you’ll notice that the diner is very cozy…

and offers views of the river (like this) right from your seat!

The diner has something refreshing, which is a short, precise menu. You can find all your diner favorites without spending a long time going through loads of pages. However that doesn’t mean you won’t spend a long time figuring out what delicious food item you want. Hence why I ordered a coffee while I made my decision.

Chef and The Builder’s Family Diner offers your favorite diner classics, including a few spins on them like their Carbolicious French Toast, hearty omelettes, homemade soups, Brooklyn heroes, and burgers served on specialty brioche Red Mill buns.

All the food is homemade and fresh, including the fresh cannoli cream that comes on their OMG French Toast, which I had to get due to my love of all things cannoli.

And yes, it was as delicious as it looked.

My husband ordered the Red Mill Burger, a homemade turkey burger which came with fries. I can’t even begin to tell you how nice it is to get a fresh burger at a diner versus something that was frozen.

If you’re looking for night time fine dining, the couple also own the Chefs Table Clinton on 10 East Main St, which is open Friday and Saturdays for dinner. The Chefs Table Clinton offered old school Italian food including five course elegant dining and brick oven pizza. Be sure to follow the Chefs Table on Instagram.

Chef June and Greg are always on site to say hi and make you feel welcome! That definitely earns this diner extra points on what is already a highly recommend diner visit. Be sure to check them out!
