Bacon and Beer Festival – Next Thursday, August 20th, 2015

2015-B&B-SouthJersey-web

Michael Snyder, CEO of Crossroads Programs, is bringing out the big guns: though his nonprofit runs several events during the year as fundraisers, none is more successful than the South Jersey annual Bacon & Beer Festival. This year the festival will be held on Thursday, August 20, from 6-8:30pm at the Grand Ballroom of the Scottish Rite Auditorium in Collingswood. Tickets for are $37.50 and are available online at http://www.wheretoeat.in/2015-south-jersey-bacon-and-beer-festival/ .

The popular event features a dozen restaurants all offering tastings of a wide variety of dishes. “Our only requirement is that they have bacon,” says Snyder. “Aside from that they chefs can use their imagination…and they do.” Last year’s festival featured bacon chowder, bacon pasta, bacon doughnuts and bacon infused bloody marys. “We can’t wait to see what’s on the menu this year.” Crossroads is joined by EatBoston which raises money for non-profits all across the country. The latest Bacon & Beer Festival in Boston raised over $60,000 for participating organizations.

Crossroads Programs runs homeless shelters for teens and has built an extensive network of foster treatment parents. Still, the organization has struggled to make itself known to the public – until they developed the SJ Bacon and Beer Festival. So popular has the combination of both foods been that Snyder often has donors calling him months ahead of time to insure they get a ticket.

This year the organization had no trouble signing up new restaurants eager to compete (“best bacon dish” and “best beer” are awarded by popular choice contests), spanning Gloucester, Camden and Burlington counties. Fifteen restaurants will be on hand to offer tastings of their bacon favorites and 11 breweries will offer craft beer tastings.

Press Release:

Hold onto your apple carts, folks, THE ATLANTIC CITY CIDER SOCIAL is headed your way! On August 8, attendees will pour into the waterfront of Caspian Point adjacent Gardner’s Basin to celebrate the summer and the shore’s newest libation craze “ciders”! How about them apples?

The event producers at Good Time Tricycle Productions are anything but new to the festival game in Atlantic City, producing events such as The Atlantic City Seafood Festival, The Atlantic City Tattoo Expo and the annual “apple” of South Jersey’s eye- The Atlantic City Beer & Music Festival. Producers are confident that the apple won’t fall far from the tree and The 2015 Atlantic City Cider Social will meet and exceed all expectations with 30 cider brewers, 5 local food exhibitors, cooking demos, live music, cider seminars and amusements.

A few years ago, ciders were a super-sweet, rare find sitting at the edge of the alcoholic beverage world. In its current state, cider is becoming more diverse and appeals to both beer and wine drinkers. It is no secret that cider is rising through the ranks of beverage popularity among all demographics. The goal of The Atlantic City Cider Social is to promote and educate attendees on ciders as well as the brewers that create them. This event is the perfect opportunity for cider aficionados, cider lovers and the casual cider drinker to speak to the company representatives and brewers responsible for some of their favorite ciders.

Gilda’s Club South Jersey is a 501c3 nonprofit organization that solely relies on donations from individuals, foundations and corporations in order to provide a free community of support to our members.   www.gildasclubsouthjersey.org

The Atlantic City Cider Social aims to be a true downhome American experience. We encourage attendees to put on their best denim, bob for apples, dance to live folk music acts, take a break at red and white checked picnic tables, and enjoy a mouth-watering caramel apple or slice of pie paired with your cider. There will be two sessions on Saturday, August 8: Noon-4pm & 7pm-11pm. Tickets are $45 and include a tasting cup, entertainment and cider tastings.
