3rd Annual Chili Cook Off St. Patrick’s Day Parade Fundraiser – Feb 22

There will be two contests, the “Professional” Cook Off (commercial) and the “Amateur” Cook Off (residents). Once the chili lovers have tasted all chili, they will vote for their favorite and drop their ballot in the ballot box. The results will be tallied and the winners will be announced! Oyster Bowl XVI – Feb 1

New Jersey’s annual oyster eating contest. Oyster Bowl XVI will be held from 11 am – 2 pm to benefit Susan G. Komen Central and South Jersey and Breast Cancer Resource Center YWCA Princeton.  This action packed event draws hundreds of participants and spectators who compete in 2 minute heats to determine who can consume the most oysters. Oyster Bowl has become a Princeton tradition before the big game featuring not only the oyster eating contest, but games, activities, raffles and prizes; and the only time lunch is served at Blue Point Grill. The event provides an opportunity for the community to join together to raise awareness and funds for breast cancer.  Individuals and corporate teams of four slurp as many oysters as they can with the hope they can beat the all-time record of 102 consumed in a two-minute period.

The biggest names in international brewing are returning to the Meadowlands Exposition Center at Harmon Meadows in Secaucus, NJ on Saturday, January 31, 2015 for the 5th Annual International Great Beer Expo. This international beer tasting extravaganza will showcase more than 60 breweries from across the globe, each providing samples of their country’s proudest brewing achievement-more than 100 beers in all.  Shoulder to shoulder with some of America’s best breweries will be amazing beer from Japan, Germany, Czech Republic, Belgium, Italy, Ireland, Mexico, Poland, Peru, Canada, and others.

“The International Great Beer Expo offers beer enthusiasts a unique pay-one-price opportunity to try some foreign beers from foreign lands,” said Joe Chierchie, representing event producer, Starfish Junction Productions.  “We are expecting more than twenty different countries to be represented, delivering an amazing beer experience to all who attend.  I think we’ll have another sold out show for 2015,” he added.

Lambertville New Hope Winter Weekend – Jan 17 & 18

The annual Winter Festival links the twin river towns of Lambertville and New Hope with a display of music, creativity and talent. Come see Mummers bands, marching bands, creative floats, dancers, jugglers, community groups all contributing to the festive atmosphere! You can view the parade on the bridge or anywhere along Bridge Street in Lambertville or New Hope. Walker Stalker Con – Dec 13th & 14th

Walker Stalker Con is the fruit of The Walker Stalkers Podcast with James & Eric. The podcast began with an amazing trip to Senoia, GA where James & Eric were able to view the set of The Walking Dead and meet the incredible actors from the show. As a result of this experience, a podcast began and then the idea of a convention focused around recreating that same experience with the cast and crew of the show, along with talented actors and artists from other zombie shows, movies and art.

Winter Trolley Tour – Dec 13 & 14

Join Vintage SouthJersey,  Saturday, December 13, and Sunday, December 14, to visit the wineries of the Two Bridges Wine Trail. Travelling aboard charming classic trolleys, each tour lasts approximately 5 hours, and includes tastings from four wineries.

Wall Twp Christmas Light Show – Dec 13 & 14

This Christmas Light Show is a family tradition at the Jersey Shore. The show combines impressive displays of lighting, fog, and pyrotechnics and synchronizes them to powerful concert quality sound! The event is free but raises money for local charities through donations from visitors. Free food and drink are available and Santa usually makes an appearance! Visitors are advised to come 40 minutes before the show to allow time to park and walk to the venue. Dress warm and bring a flashlight. Rinn Duin Brewing has teamed up with Hometown Heroes to bring you a premier tasting event. Rinn Duin is brewing an exclusive beer that will only be available at this event for sampling and purchase called “Honey Hero Pale Ale.” Proceeds will be going to Hometown Heroes whose primary mission in the community is to help people in a crisis. Tickets are available for purchase online, and also at the brewery prior to this event. The official hashtag to use all over social media is #BeerForHeroes.

Coming Home Rescue Flapjack Fundraiser Breakfast – Dec 7

Coming Home Rescue, a 501(c)3 non-profit dog rescue organization, will host a Flapjack Fundraiser Breakfast at Applebee’s®, 435 Route 46 East, Dover, NJ, on Sunday, December 7, 2014, from 8am-10am to help raise funds to continue to save homeless animals. The cost is $10 per adult and $6 for children 6 and under. The meal includes pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausage and a choice of beverage (coffee, juice, soda or tea). Tickets are also available at adoption events which are held nearly every Saturday in Morris, Essex and Passaic Counties. The Wayne NJ Toy and Collectibles Show, which began in 1991, is New Jersey’s longest running toy collectibles show.  There are many things you can find at the show: Toys, Comics, Sports Cards, Sports Memorabilia and Autographs, Small Antiques, Action Figures, Movie Posters-Memorabilia and Autographs, Die-Cast-Cars, Trucks and Planes, Books and Magazines, Dime Store Toys, Gumball Machine and Vending Prizes, Trains, Dolls, DVD’s, Star Wars, PEZ, Corgi, Gi Joe, Hot Wheels, Mego, Barbi, Original Art, Vintage Military, Cap Guns, Monster, Sci-Fi and Horror Items and so much more.
