Brewery Review: River Horse Brewing Co in Ewing Twp

I am very quickly checking off  visiting a lot of breweries all around New Jersey! Good thing I recently became a NJ Craft Beer Member!

I have drank River Horse beer before, so I was looking forward to visiting their brewery in New Ewing Twp (Right by Trenton). They have a pretty big facility in New Ewing compared to their former space in Lambertville.

If you decide to go and you want to go on the tour, be sure to sign up for the tour before hand! When we went it was busy! The tour was great because it was only $5 and we got to try 4 different beers.

The tour itself it quite informative. It was roughly 30 minutes, and you get to try the samples at different stations along the route of the tour. I highly recommend doing it.

Beers I tried while I was there:
– River Horse IPA: American Style IPA, ABV – 5.7%
– Triple Horse: Belgian Style Tripel Ale, ABV – 10.0% (!!)
– Oatmeal Milk Stout: Stout brewed with oats and milk sugar, ABV – 6.7%
– Belgian Freeze: Winter Ale available Oct-Dec, ABV – 8%
– Chocolate Porter – ABV – 6.5%

The last 3 beers are all seasonal, but definitely try to get your hands on them!

I also really enjoyed the decor of the place. There were hippos everywhere! They have a lot of great, original art work all around the brewery which gives it a really hip (pun not intended) vibe.

Inside the brewery you can buy pints of beer, growlers, and they have lots of merch.

My husband and I went home with a growler of Tripel Horse and a 4-pack of Hippo-Lantern. AKA we went home very happy.
