Boonton Main Street, Inc. will host First Friday Late Night: Poets on Main on Friday, April 3, from 5-9 PM. Businesses will be open late for dining, shopping, entertainment, socializing, and more. There will be poetry readings to celebrate National Poetry Month, and live music at select Main Street businesses.

“Poets on Main allows those who have a passion for poetry to have a forum to share their craft with attendees at our First Friday Late Night,” said Chris Manzella, Executive Director at Boonton Main Street. “We hope that this event brings together accomplished poets to inspire our community and hi-light National Poetry Month.”

First Friday Late Night: Poets on Main is a great opportunity to experience Main Street’s unique shops, amazing art galleries, and fabulous restaurants. Many of the galleries on Main Street have art openings on First Fridays that offer attendees the opportunity to meet with and engage the artists. Restaurants roll out the red carpet for their guests with nightly drink and food specials. First Fridays also offer retailers an opportunity to showcase new products and services.

Poets and their locations include:
-Iconic Images Art Gallery, 414 Main Street, 7 PM | Chris Hosea: Chris Hosea’s first book of poems, Put Your Hands In (LSU Press 2014), was chosen by Pulitzer Prize and National Book Award-winning poet John Ashbery for the Walt Whitman Award from the Academy of American Poets. Tabitha V.J. will also be reading at 8 PM.
-Bobby’s News & Gifts, 618-B Main Street, 6 PM | Marcia Ivans: Marcia Ivans is a local poet and author of three books of poetry. Open mic and poetry night for beginners and seasoned poets from 6 PM – 8 PM.  Listeners welcome!
-Speakeasy Art Gallery, 816 Main Street, 6 PM | Anthony Lusardi. Anthony Lusardi has had his poetry published in different anthologies including: “Best Poets and Poems of 2012” and “International Who’s Who in Poetry” 2012 collection, both published by World Poetry Movement, “In My Lifetime: Memoirs” 2013 anthology and “Best Poets of 2014,” both published by Eber & Wein Publishing, from Shrewbury, PA. Mr. Lusardi is a 2013 graduate of Centenary College in Hackettstown and is a journalist for The Citizen newspaper.
-Culture Cabin, 1017 Main Street, 7 PM | Dr. Joyce McNeill, Boonton resident and professor of Literature at Berkeley College.

Musicians and their locations include:
-Glass and Vapes, 312 Main Street | Aduna: An African Drum Trio
-Heavenly Temptations, 712 Main Street | Walkin the Boulevard: A Classic Rock band playing songs from the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s.
-Papyrus Home Design, 922 Main Street | Curious Skies: Light Rock

Visitors to Boonton Main Street during First Friday Late Night are encouraged to share photos on social media using the hashtags #BoontonPoets and #BoontonFF. Boonton Main Street raffles off a gift card from a local retailer each First Friday Late Night so patrons can come back and visit once again. See the BMS website for specific details.
