Bucket List Item Completed: Battleship New Jersey Craft Beer Festival

This past Saturday I got to accomplish something of my New Jersey bucket list, attending the Battleship New Jersey Craft Beer Festival hosted by the Garden State Brewer’s Guild. This was their 21st year, and they featured over 45 New Jersey Breweries aboard the USS Battleship NJ.

IPAs, Pilsners, Blondes…Oh my! There was no shortage of different beers to choose from whether you’re a fan of stouts, witbiers, and even sour ales (my personal fave).

NJ Breweries in attendance ranged from North to South (the Northest being Czig Meister, Man Skirt, and Jersey Girl from Hackettstown and the Southest being Cape May Brewing Co).

My personal favorite beers that I tried were:
– Human Village Brewing Co’s “Pucker Gently”, a black raspberry sour beer
– Little Dog Brewing Co’s “Gesundheit”, a Fruity Amber Ale with a hint of raspberry
– Jersey Girl Brewing Co’s “King Gambrinus”, a Belgian Trippel

– Czig Meister Brewery’s “Abacabb”, which tasted like apple pie
– Garden State Beer Co’s “Blue Jersey”, an American Wheat with Blueberry
– Cape May Brewing Co’s “Top Sail”, a Sour Blonde Ale
– Wet Ticket Brewing Co’s “Watermelon Wheat”

– Devil Creek Brewing Co’s “ManderIPA”
– Flying Fish Brewing Co’s “Blueberry Braggot”, a honey ale brewed with blueberries
– Carton Brewing’s “Money Chased the Weasal”, a sour ale

This amazing event that was held by the Garden state Craft Brewer’s Guild also included a tour of the battleship which you need to take before you start drinking (trust me, when you walk through you’ll see why). Ticket sales went to benefit the Battleship, which is a non-profit organization.

Overall this was the perfect way to spend a Saturday in New Jersey!

About the Battleship New Jersey:
“The mission of the Battleship New Jersey Museum and Memorial is to restore, preserve, exhibit and interpret the history of the USS New Jersey and her veterans.”

The Home Port Alliance for the USS New Jersey. Inc. (Home Port Alliance) is the organization responsible for the restoration and management of the Battleship New Jersey Museum & Memorial, our country’s largest and most decorated Battleship. The Home Port Alliance is a private non-profit organization governed by a volunteer Board of Trustees. We are a unique blend of history, education, entertainment and hospitality. While historic preservation and restoration are key missions, exhibition and tourism are integral to funding our goals. This translates to having both a non-profit museum and a fun-filled family attraction.

As a private, 501(c)(3) non-profit, the Battleship New Jersey would not exist without the support of donors and volunteers. It is because of the generosity of individuals, corporations and the public sector that we can continue to maintain the ongoing restoration, preservation and educational programs that take place onboard the ship.
