My August in New Jersey

So much activity (and so much food)! I loved my August in New Jersey, whether it was exploring history, eating at a diner, or hitting a beach town. Hopefully this list will inspire you to do more in September (yay for Fall)! To follow my adventures daily…follow on Instagram @newjerseyisntboring and snapchat NJISNTBORING

August 1st – I started off the first day of the month with having a great time in Red Bank. For starters, I went to Whipped Creperie on Monmouth St for a delicious crepe! For more on that visit, click HERE.

While in Red Bank I also did a lot of window shopping, visiting a few stores, and ended the night seeing ET (for free) at Count Basie Theater.

August 2nd – I spent the afternoon with my good friend Hollie stopping off at the Americana Diner, my 175th diner review. Click HERE to read all about that.

Afterward we went to the Thomas Edison National Historic Park in West Orange, and go to tour Edison’s famous factory. It was such an amazing experience, I highly recommend it.

August 3rd – I kept it simple for dinner and added another match up for my Pizza Challenge. Did you know I am currently researching my favorite pizza place in my town? For more info, real about that here.

August 4th – Dinner with friends! We met up at Asian Fusion restaurant Aja in New Brunswick, NJ. Sooooo good.

August 8th – One of my favorite things to do in the Summer is going to Plays in the Park in Edison, so I went to go see Mary Poppins outside in Roosevelt on a beautiful Summers Day. I highly recommend seeing a play by them next Summer.

August 10th – New diner to the list! This time I went to Bridgewater to eat at the Time to Eat Diner. To read more about that, click HERE.

After dinner I went to hang out in downtown Somerville, and ended the night seeing Spaceballs (one of my favorite movies!) outside in the square.

August 11th – Took a spontaneous trip to Pier Village in West Long Branch. It was so much fun walking the boardwallk, eating dinner, and enjoying a beautiful night on the beach.

Plus we ended the night with fireworks, which was a fun surprise!

August 13th – I attended my first event as a vendor, the South Jersey Made Fest which was present by South Jersey Made. It was so much fun and I met a lot of great people. Looking forward to vending at more events in September!

After the event, we treated ourselves to another diner trip…the Country Town Diner in Berlin, NJ. To read about my review, click HERE

August 14th – I checked something off my bucket list, visiting Bookends in Ridgewood! That was a really cool experience, visiting this historic book store that gets all the famous authors to stop by and sign.

Afterward we stopped by Van Dyk Ice Cream in Ridgewood for another “NJisntBoring Ice Cream Quest” visit! Raspberry Truffle homemade ice cream…nom nom nom.

First #njisntboringicecreamquest stop for August! #vandyksicecream in #ridgewoodnj. #icecream choice: raspberry truffle! 🍦 #njisntboring

August 16th – Another Pizza challenge!

August 18th – I went camping for the weekend in New York, and loved traveling through Sussex County getting there. On the way we stopped in Hainesville and picked up some award winning pie.

August 20th – On the way home from camping we stopped at Jumboland Diner in Branchville which might be one of my new favorite diners. I highly recommend it!

August 21st – The Eclipse! I traveled down Galloway to the Edwin B. Forsythe National Wildlife Refuge to see the eclipse with my friend Hollie. While we were there we met a lot of very nice people who let us share all their amazing eclipse viewing devices. I’m especially proud of this shop I got through a telescope.

August 22nd – I traveled to Asbury Park to visit my friend Christine who runs the popular website NJ MOM. We had fun walking around, having lunch, and exploring the different shops. I especially loved seeing this sign…

August 23rd – Pizza with friends! I loved checking out Stage House Tavern and sharing not one, but three different pizzas (all of which were amazing).

August 24th – Happy Hour at Bar Louie in East Brunswick!

August 25th – This was a cool surprise…seeing a Jersey Local section at Target. What a great idea!

August 26th – I had brunch with family and I brought the Hoboken Mary Bloody Mary Mix. Bloody Marys and Bagels…what could be better?

August 28th – Sunday Funday! I went to Fox Hollow Vineyards in Holmdel for a great wine tasting. It was my first time there and I will definitely be back.

August 29th – Plans got rained out…cheered myself up with Pizza. Again. Round 2 has begun!

August 30th – Spent a beautiful night on the beach! The hubs and I traveled to Spring Lake Beach.

While we were there we enjoyed watching “Rogue One” on the sand. This may be the last outdoor movie for a while…

All and all a very enjoyable August!! Looking forward to next month!
