Boonton Main Street, Inc. will welcome the national Shop Small movement to Main Street in Boonton on Saturday, November 28th. Prior to, and following the Boonton Fire Department’s Christmas Parade at 1pm, Boonton retailers will open their doors to patrons showcasing discounts, sales, classes and demonstrations.

Event sponsor, Matchstick, LLC of Boonton is a first year sponsor of Small Business Saturday. When asked about the upcoming event, Marty Coyne, Principal, shared, “Our company has found a home on Main Street, Boonton. We’re growing with Boonton, and are happy to support our fellow businesses that create a thriving environment for our employees, clients, and visitors to enjoy.”

Boonton Main Street volunteers will be marching in the Christmas Parade distributing swag bags care of American Express’s Shop Small Saturday program that contain coupons and deals from retailers here on Main Street.

Event sponsor, Bernard P. Bacchetta, Counsellor at Law, has a long standing practice here on Main Street in Boonton. “My firm hopes that on Shop Small Saturday, folks will take a break from the faceless crowds at the mall and rediscover the pleasure of buying what they need from our local shopkeepers. They will be surprised at the courteous service they receive, the variety of merchandise available to them, and the reasonable prices they will find. Remember, it’s the small businesses that keep all the towns running!”

Retailers have geared up for the crowds that will be coming on that Saturday by showing off their respective talents with classes and demos. A sample of some programs that afternoon are: Culture Cabin will offer a class on how to make a leather holiday stockings, Scoop House ice cream parlor will explore the history of ice cream, the chemistry of ice, salt and exothermic reactions and make ice cream in a bag, and Speakeasy Art Gallery will have participants creating 2D dog designs that will be included in the 2016 sponsorship exhibit & reception for Boonton Arts’ Dog Days of Summer. To see the full listing of all the demos and classes offered by retailers, please see the Boonton Main Street website at www.BoontonMainStreet.org.

WDHA 105.5 – The Rock of New Jersey, will have their prize van set up at the top of the Plane Street parking lot to provide great music and prizes to those shopping from 3pm on.

At 3pm on that Saturday retailers will be “turning on the holiday season” by lighting small white lights in their front windows.

Visitors to Boonton Main Street during Shop Small Saturday are encouraged to share photos on social media using the hashtags #BoontonShopSmall.

Boonton Main Street will hold a raffle at their office that day (620 Main Street) for three different memberships to the Lakeland Hills YMCA.
