Preserving! Tomatoes – Sept 16

Learn to preserve the local harvest with Jammin’ Crepes Co-Founder & Cornell University Cooperative Extension Master Food Preserver, Kim Rizk. Each class will introduce you to a different preserved product (fruit butters, pickles, etc.). Kim will guide you through the recipe steps as you chop & cook, and then show you the basics of water bath canning. You’ll finish class with a demonstration of how to use your new condiments with a variety of Cherry Grove Farm meats & cheese, then snack on  small bites while discussing different pairings.  All students will go home with the recipes and canning details, as well a jar of each recipe made that day – at least one being shelf stable.

Moroccan Feast at Cherry Grove Farms – Sept 26

For one magical night, Cherry Grove Farm turns into a mini Marrakesh. We start our outdoor dining experience with Moroccan cigars: delicate phyllo pastry filled with Cherry Grove Farm ground beef and a heady blend of spices. Next, enjoy a feast fit for sultans: merguez sausages, herbaceous salads, chicken stewed with almonds and dried fruits, fluffy couscous, passed at the communal farm table. We’ll finish the meal with traditional mint tea and a rice pudding made from rice grown locally at Blue Moon Acres.

Date: Saturday, September 26, 2015; 5pm
Address: Cherry Grove Farms; 3200 Lawrenceville Road, Lawrenceville, NJ
Cost: $60. For Tickets, Click Here

Foraging at Cherry Grove Farms – Sept 27

Join Chef and Architect, Ben Walmer, for a walk deep into Cherry Grove Farm to “fish” for seasonal ingredients. From mushrooms to tree bark, foraging unearths some of nature’s most delicate treasures, and is a much-valued survival skill. Be sure to bring your walking shoes and your favorite beverage! After your adventure trek, Ben will demonstrate surprising ways to utilize the bounty of the farm, and you’ll taste “farm fresh” in a whole new way. You’ll go home with recipes and class materials, and the know-how to dig up your own dinner!

Date: Sunday, September 27th, 2015; 3pm
Address: Cherry Grove Farms; 3200 Lawrenceville Road, Lawrenceville, NJ
Cost: $45, Buy Tickets Here
